Explosion At Moscow Airport; Many Killed; Suicide Bomber Suspected

Reports, as we've been getting them, about a deadly explosion at Moscow's Domodedovo airport:

As night is falling in Moscow, the news from there appears to be slowing. Watch for a new post later as we learn more about what's happened — and for more from NPR's David Greene on today's edition of All Thing Considered.
Update at 10:55 a.m. ET. Summing up the story to this point once again:
— There was what appears to be, from reports, a terrorist attack at the airport late this afternoon (local time).
— Authorities are telling news outlets that at least 31 people were killed and another 130 were wounded.
— Initial reports point to a suicide bomber, or perhaps more than one.
And some of the first videos from the scene are starting to emerge. One, posted here, includes images of what look to be bodies lying across a corridor. The images could disturb some viewers.

Update at 10:48 a.m. ET: There's now an "NPR staff and wires" story posted here. It reminds us that:<blockquote class="edTag">
"Domodedovo, which serves passengers traveling within Russia as well as internationally, is generally regarded as Moscow's most up-to-date airport, but its security procedures have been called into question. In 2004, two suicide bombers were able to board planes at Domodedovo by buying tickets illegally from airport personnel. The bombers blew themselves up in mid-air, killing all 90 people aboard the two flights."</blockquote>
And from Moscow, NPR's David Greene notes that today's bombing "bears some resemblance to the terrorist attacks on Moscow's subway system" last spring. Then, a "black widow suicide gang" from the North Caucasus was blamed.

Update at 10:40 a.m. ET: The blast happened in the late afternoon. As RT News just said, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (local time) is one of the busiest times of day at the airport, as flights arrive from other nations.
Update at 10:35 a.m. ET. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has declared this was a terrorist attack, Itar-Tass reports.
Update at 10:25 a.m. ET. Summing up the story to this point: The English-language RT News says it has been told by authorities that at least 31 people are dead and about 130 were injured. It quotes police sources as saying "at least one, maybe more than one suicide bombers were involved." Itar-Tass also says it has been told by authorities that 31 people are dead.

Update at 10:13 a.m. ET: Earlier reports said the blast happened at the luggage section in the international arrivals area. InterFax now says it occurred "in [a] lounge area near Asia Cafe."
Update at 10:01 a.m. ET: Russia's InterFax news agency is also now reporting that about 130 people were injured. It hasn't yet updated its fatality count. Earlier, RT News said it had been told that at least 31 people are dead.
RT News says authorities are treating this as a "terrorist attack," presumably by one or more suicide bombers.
Update at 9:57 a.m. ET: RT News just reported that it has been told by police that "one or several suicide bombers" may have been involved. It also continues to report that it has been told at least 31 people are dead and about 130 were injured. Again, RT News' coverage is streaming here.
Update at 9:48 a.m. ET: The English-language, Russian-based channel RT News is streaming its coverage here. It is reporting "31 killed, 130 injured."

Update at 9:39 a.m. ET: The BBC adds that Domodedovo airport is about 25 miles southeast of Moscow, "and is popular with foreign workers and tourists."
Update at 9:30 a.m. ET: Reuters says the Itar-Tass news agency is reporting that the blast "killed about 20 people," according to "a law enforcement official."
Update at 9:23 a.m. ET: Russia's InterFax news agency is saying it's been told by a source that the blast was a "suicide attack" that "occurred at [the] luggage section at [the] international arrivals terminal."
Update at 9:18 a.m. ET: According to the BBC, "early local media reports suggested the blast may have hit the airport's international arrivals hall."
Our original post:
— The BBC says "at least 10 people killed and 20 others injured." Reuters has the same numbers.
— Russia's InterFax, from which many other outlets are getting their information, is saying there were at least 10 deaths and "at least 20 injured."
There's nothing about this yet on the airport's website.
