مناظرة الأمام إبن القيم مع أحد اليهود

وقد جرت لي مناظرة بمصر مع أكبر من يشير إليه اليهود بالعلم والرياسة ، فقلت له في أثناء الكلام : أنتم بتكذيبكم محمداً صلى الله عليه و سلم قد شتمتم الله أعظم شتيمة .
فعجب من ذلك ، وقال: مثلك يقول هذا الكلام! فقلت له : اسمع الآن تقريره ، إذا قلتم : إن محمداً ملك ظالم قهر الناس بسيفه وليس برسول من عند الله ، وقد أقام ثلاثاً وعشرين سنة يدعى أنه رسوله الله أرسله إلى الخلق كافة، ويقول : أمرني الله بكذا ونهاني عن كذا وأوحى إلى كذا ، ولم يكن من ذلك شئ .
ويقول : إنه أباح لي سبي ذراري من كذبني وخالفني نساءهم وغنيمة أموالهم و قتل رجالهم ، ولم يكن من ذلك شئ ، وهو يدأب في تغيير دين الأنبياء ومعاداة أممهم و نسخ شرائعهم ، فلا يخلو إما أن تقولوا أن الله سبحانه كان يطلع على ذلك ويشاهده و يعلمه أو تقولوا أنه خفي عنه ولم يعلم به ، فإن قلتم لم يعلم به ، فإن قلتم لم يعلم به نسبتموه إلى أقبح الجهل وكان من علم ذلك أعلم منه ، وإن قلتم بل كان ذلك كله بعلمه ومشاهدته واطلاعه عليه فلا يخلو إما أن يكون قادراً على تغييره والأخذ على يديه ومنعه من ذلك أو لا ، فإن لم يكن قادراً فقد نسبتموه إلى أقبح العجز المنافي للربوبية ، وإن كان قادراً وهو مع ذلك يعزه وينصره ويؤيده ويعليه ويعلي كلمته ، ويجيب دعاءه ويمكنه من أعدائه ويظهر على يديه من أنواع المعجزات والكرامات ما يزيد على الألف ولا يقصده أحد بسوء إلا أظفره به ولا بدعوة إلا استجابها له فهذا من أعظم الظلم والسفه الذي لا يليق نسبته إلى آحاد العقلاء فضلاً عن رب الأرض و السماء فكيف وهو يشهد له بإقراره على دعوته وبتأييده وبكلامه وهذه عندكم شهادة زور و كذب.
فلما سمع ذلك قال معاذ الله أن يفعل الله هذا بكاذب مفتر بل هو نبي صادق من اتبعه أفلح وسعد.
قلت : فما لك لا تدخل في دينه ؟ ، قال : إنما بعث إلى الأميين الذين لا كتاب لهم ، وأما نحن فعندنا كتاب نتبعه .
قلت له : غلبت كل الغلب ،فإنه قد علم الخاص والعام أنه أخبر أنه رسول الله إلى جميع الخلق ، وإن من لم يتبعه فهو كافر من أهل الجحيم ، وقاتل اليهود والنصارى وهم أهل كتاب ، وإذا صحت رسالته وجب تصديقه في كل ما أخبر به ، فأمسك ولم يحر جواباً.

The Imam said: I had a debate in Egypt with one whom the Jews consider as an important figure in their theology and as a public figure. I said to him, you, Jews, when you reject what Prophet Muhammad has come with, actually you are degrading God in the worst manner!




He was astonished for hearing this, and said: is it you that’s saying this?


So I replied: listen how this goes. When you say, ‘Muhammad was a tyrant king who subjugated people by force and is not a Messenger from Allah, he spent twenty three years claiming to be a Prophet from Allah sent to all the worlds, Jinns and humans.’
You believe that ‘he also says: ‘‘Allah has ordered doing so and so and prohibited doing so and so, and revealed to me.’’ While nothing of this happened!’
‘And he, Prophet Muhammad, says: “God allowed me to capture the women and children of those who don’t believe in what I was sent with, Islam, and to take their money and to kill their men”, while none of this is true.’
‘He also has been changing the religion of the previous prophets [peace be upon them all] and showed enmity to their nations and nullified their laws’.
This has only two options. Either you say that Allah knew about all of this and watched it happening, or you say that that was done without His knowledge.
Now, if you say ‘He did not know it was happening’, you are insolently attributing ignorance to the Lord, and thus the one who knew about all what Muhammad had more knowledge than the Lord Himself!!

However, if you say ‘no, but all of that was happening under God’s view and knowledge’,
it is either He was able to prevent what Muhammad was doing or He was not.
If He wasn’t able, you are attributing weakness to the Lord which contradicts the simplest fact of lordship!
But if you say, He was able; nevertheless, He was always on His side, supporting him, helping him, making him victorious over his enemies, answering his supplications , showing miracles on his hands, which numbered more than one thousand, and none could do him any harm. If you believe so, this is the most foolish act of all on your part! This is because by this, you are ascribing tyranny to God Himself! This tyranny and carelessness is not attributed to any self-respecting man, how can you ascribe it to the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth?
How? How come that God was always helping him by approving of what he was doing and supporting what he claimed? While you consider all of this as lies and false claims!
Jewish personage heard all of this, he said: ‘High Exalted be God above supporting a liar


or a false prophet. Muhammad was a true Prophet, and whoever follows him will gain happiness


and success.’ So I asked, so why don’t you embrace Islam? He replied, ‘Muhammad was only sent


to the illiterate who had no holy book, however, we have our own holy book to follow.’


I finally said to him, you were beat in argument. Anyway, all people know that Muhammad was sent


to the whole world, and not only to the Arabs or the illiterate. And whoever does not follow Islam, he


is an infidel deserving Hell fire. Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him] fought the Jews and the


Christians while they are the people of the holy books, because if you believe that his religion is true


you should believe in all what this religion is all about, and believe in everything the Prophet [peace


be upon him] told us.


Here, the Jewish person kept silent and found no answer.
