Diamond Cut (True Hearts, Ideal, Premium, Good)
Deciding on the right cut of a diamond is an important aspect and is one of the “four C’s” of diamond selection. The cut is what give the diamond its brilliance and sparkle, which is achieved by reflecting light back to the eye of the beholder. The largest area seen from above is the table; the outer edge of the diamond is called the girdle. At the very bottom of the diamond is a point – this is called the cutlet. The area between the girdle and cutlet is called a pavilion. The crown is the top part of the diamond that stretches from the girdle to the table. In terms of measurement, diameter is the width of the stone from opposite edges, while depth is the measurement from top to bottom, or table top to cutlet point. Ideal
This term refers to perfect angles and proportion. Diamonds that are improperly cut or measured will have a dull appearance and do not have the rapid sparkle that a well-cut diamond would when turning it under a light. The facets on the crown and table of an ideal-cut diamond will have optimal brilliance and sparkle. When you choose an ideal cut for a stone, there are six different styles to choose from, depending on the shape and size of the stone. Round, brilliant and princess cuts are the standard shape cuts used for ideal patterns.
True Hearts
This cut not only presents perfect optical symmetry, but it also has an intriguing pattern that any owner will appreciate. When viewed from above, looking fully on the table, the pattern appears to have several arrows. Each arrow is perfectly spaced and the tips appear to meet in the center of the stone. When viewed from the sides, or girdle, the appearance of v-shaped hearts is noticeable. To make the attractiveness complete, this cut reflects light in a rapid fiery brilliance. Premium

Good
This cut is considered the lowest possible choice for optimal light reflection. Its quality of reflection is less than premium or ideal, but it does still reflect light and has some sparkle. Of all the cuts mentioned, this is the least expensive.
