Who would be stupid enough to hunt in a clearly marked no hunting zone and
out of season? Apparently the man who killed me was. Oh, yeah, I’m a
zombie. My name is Ivy and I’m seventeen and a junior in high school. I
have black hair and hazel eyes. My favorite activities are reading and
listening to music. I used to love hanging out with my friends.
I
died last June getting shot by a hunter while riding my bike on a trail
in the woods. I died almost instantly. I “came back” as they call it, a
week later. I knew I couldn’t go home. This was for two reasons: one,
my parents are the two most anti-zombie people you will ever meet, and
two, I always got the vibe my parents didn’t love me all that much,
which is why I spent most of my pre-death days at my best friend’s
house. Her parents were much better to me than my own. I’m not even sure
what would have happened if I went back to my parents’ house. I decided
to go to this town called Oakvale, about fifty miles away. I read a lot
about this place online. One zombie there has a website that I read
when I was alive. I was a closet zombie-lover. My parents would have
freaked if they knew. This zombie with the website, Tommy, often wrote
about this pace called the Haunted House, where many zombies without
families stayed. I thought I’d go there. It took me about two weeks to
walk there and I arrived in mid July. I am obviously not one of the
faster zombies in movement, or speech. My joints were especially stiff
since I just “awoke”. When I finally arrived in Oakvale, I couldn’t find
the Haunted House. It was hidden deep in the woods. I
didn’t realize how many zombies there were in the area. There were at
least fifteen when I arrived at the Haunted House. Tommy was there even
though he stays with his mom in town. He welcomed me and I (slowly) told
him who I was and why I was there. He understood completely. He seemed
to be the leader of the undead in the area. I told him how much I
enjoyed the website when I was alive. He asked if I had a username and
when I told him it was “comments_from_a_trad” he recognized it
immediately and told me my point of view was always appreciated. This
would have made me blush, if I still could.
